Can you believe it is less than two months before Christmas 2009? Most people can hardly believe that a battery-powered hamster has become the Tickle Me Elmo and Cabbage Patch Kid of 2009 shopping season.
After you try them, see them or play with them it won’t take you long to understand why craze. The Zhu Zhu Pets are fuzzy, battery-operated hamsters that run on wheels and are are suppose to sell for less than $10 in stores such as Walmart, Toys R Us and Target. Some stores are reporting that they get up to 50 calls a day looking for Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters. Most stores are have trouble keeping the hamsters on their shelves. As a result of this dilemma most parents are turning to the aftermarket like Amazon and eBay in search of Zhu Zhu pets. They seem to be the only place that has them in stock. You can find great deals on complete sets or starter sets of Zhu Zhu pets. Here’s and example, you could buy a three-hamster set with the playhouse, surfboard, exercise wheel, beds and covers for a little over $200 on eBay.
Even Walmart the king of inventory replacement is having trouble, they received five shipments of the pet Hamsters since late September. Wal-Mart sold them out the same day. Toy R Us has attempted to ration or allocate customers to four pets per customer however they can’t keep them in stock, either.
What is even more amazing it that the Zhu Zhu pet hamsters are marketed for children ages 5-8, but teenagers have been buying them, too. It seems that the pets are really attracting a huge following as they appeal to even older kids, who are collecting them.
In order to get around easier than using little tiny legs, the Zhu Zhu Pets run around on wheels on their bellies and are powered by three AAA batteries which can be recharged with a solar charge which makes their carbon footprint almost neutral. Zhu Zhu Pet hamsters make a variety of cute cooing animal sounds and are the next best thing to buying real hamsters.
The Zhu Zhu pets come with a dozen different accessories. If a real hamster has it a Zhu Zhu Pet has it and more. Zhu Zhu pets have carrying cases, a house with a kitchen and bath and Sony LCD flat screen, connecting tubes and an exercise ball and hamster wheel. This just in! Rumor has it that there will be several new Zhu Zhu Pets released in November. Correction on the station wagon and the Zhu Zhu Pet boat. We now believe that these will be part of the January 2010 release. As part of the release they will release a new red Zhu Zhu Pet car as well as a Zhu Zhu Pet woodie station wagon perfect for carrying a hamster surfboard. The November release should also include a red, yellow, and white Zhu Zhu Pet Boat. I have even heard that they will also release some furniture.
Of course as part of this release they should also release additional or new Zhu Zhu Pets including Scoodles, Jilly, Winkie, and Patches. Base on my research none of they Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters have been released yet and should be released soon. Additionally as part of the January release they have new Zhu Zhu Pet Playset. There will be a pool room, a TV room, even a Disco for the Zhu Zhu pets to dance the night away. The single room plays sets are great additions to your Zhu Zhu pet world. Just think you can spreadout almost through the entire house.

A lot of retailers held out on their orders of the fury little pet hamsters and now are facing shortages and availability problems. As a result this has put the conservative stores on red alert and they are now scrambling to stock up on their inventory of the very popular Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters.
